These are just a few of the areas where Triangle's controllers are used. They are programmed using a language called 'Forth', a powerfull programming language that easy to use and faster than 'C' to execute. These single board computers enable you to build reliable equipment meeting exact requirements without having to be a computer expert.

For high reliability and accurate timing you may have to move away from the PC architecture. Engineers who have long-running equipment cannot tolerate a PC board's crashes or other software problems. Likewise, designers who want accurately timed measurement cannot risk having their data-acquisition tasks disrupted by an unexpected event.

The system is designed to work in the harsh environment of the Antarctic where temperatures can fall as low as -80C. It is only possible to visit each instrument once per year for a few hours so reliability is paramount. Eleven systems were deployed in January 2001 and the longest deployment (up to end 2003) was 405 days.
