Course Information & Topics
Essential PLC training for anyone who intends to be working at an industrial level with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).

Our IMFFP® training course is for anyone who is interested in working with PLCs on the shop-floor while being able to fault find, make modifications and maintain the machinery/production line.

Upon completing the IMFFP® training course, you will able to work with live PLC's in industrial environments while not compromising safety or increasing production downtime when working on the shop-floor. Based around STEP7 Professional or TIA Portal, we will walk through the software and the majority of its available programming instructions that are most used throughout programs on the shop-floor. You will learn how to read industrial programs and incorporate instructions into Organizational Blocks, Function Blocks, and Functions. We will explain the Standard Operating Procedures for working on the shop-floor with PLC’s, ensuring you are working safely and efficiently. Fault Finding methods and techniques are then demonstrated and practiced, making you more pro-active when working on processes/machinery, increasing production efficiency and reducing downtime.

At the end of the IMFFP® training course, you are expected to have a detailed understanding of the most used instructions and routines in programming, as well as being confident in approaching, maintaining and fault finding with the PLC in all situations.

1-Year eLearning Access
We understand that once you leave a training course, it may be difficult to follow-up and continuously develop your new skill-set, which is why we are happy to help refresh your training in your own time, whenever you want.

Once you have completed our EAL IMFFP PLC training, you will receive access to our Siemens TIA Portal or Siemens STEP7 Professional eLearning training courses (Available for up to 1 year), this will allow you to practice what you have been taught on our training course from home or work ensuring your training investment isn't wasted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience to join this course?
No previous experience or knowledge is required before attending the IMFFP® course however, good keyboard/laptop skills and an understanding of electrical principles is useful.
What is the duration of the PLC training course?
This course has currently been reduced from 5 days to 4 days in duration with the 5th day being spread across the 4 days of training, this is to help reduce the number of days you are required onsite in today’s climate.

09.00 – 17.00 (Monday - Thursday)
Can I learn more than one PLC software package during the PLC training course?
During our IMFFP® training, we'll focus on one PLC software package which will either be Siemens TIA Portal or Siemens STEP7 Professional depending upon which you prefer. We highly advise against learning multiple PLC software packages during one training course as that can cause a lot of confusion and will restrict how much you can learn during your training.
Will I receive certification upon completion?
Yes, at the end of each day you will be asked to complete an online assessment that covers topics from that day of training, these assessments help count towards your certification and upon completion you will receive an EAL Recognised certifcate. EAL is the specialist awarding organisation for the engineering, manufacturing and professional trades sectors and at Scantime are approved as an officially recognised EAL Training Centre to provide recognised PLC training courses.
Will I be working with a Live PLC?
Yes, the best way to learn is to learn with the real equipment. During our training courses, you will be connecting to live Siemens PLCs and using real Siemens software such as: TIA Portal or STEP7 Professional depending upon which course you enrol on to. You will then be able to work with and troubleshoot these PLCs in similar scenarios that you would experience on the shop-floor.
Can I attend as an individual?
Yes, these courses are available to anyone willing to learn, whether that is through a company or as an individual.
Can this course be delivered onsite at our company?
Yes, we can deliver our PLC IMFFP® training onsite for your engineers, for a quote, please contact us with the location of where you would like the training to take place and how many engineers you would like to train.
What is the maximum number of trainees per training course?
As PLC training is a complex subject, we try to keep our class sizes to a maximum of 4 trainees per course, allowing each learner to ask their own questions and to feel comfortable in the classroom without being over-shadowed by others.
