Our Goal
We understand how important it is for engineers to be able to work with PLCs safely and efficiently. We’re working to establish a recognised standard in PLC training, so everyone from newly-qualified to time-served engineers can safely fault-find and maintain the PLCs within their production environment.

Our History
Scantime was founded in 2004. Our Founder, David Simm, applied his wealth of experience as a controls engineer to design and develop each of our PLC training courses, with a particular focus on health and safety.

All Scantime PLC training courses are City & Guilds Assured and EAL-recognised. Each course is packed full of the practical skills you need to handle real-world shop-floor scenarios safely and with confidence.

Chris Simm
Managing Director
Chris grew up in the business, learning PLCs under his dad's mentorship from the age of 15. With over 18 years of experience developing control systems and training thousands of engineers, Chris now leads Scantime as Managing Director, shaping the company's future while staying true to the values it was built on.
Maiken Davidson
Office Manager
Maiken keeps Scantime running like clockwork. With a sharp eye for detail and a natural ability to bring order to busy days, she ensures our operations stay smooth and our team stays supported. Behind every well-run training course, there's Maiken making sure everything is exactly where it needs to be.

Client Account Manager
Joe is the first point of contact for many of our clients, both new and existing. He's dedicated to understanding what each client needs and making sure they get the most from their experience with Scantime. Whether you're booking your first course or your tenth, Joe is here to help.
Professor John Lockey
Director of Education
John brings a wealth of experience spanning both industrial and academic engineering to his role at Scantime. As Director of Education, he strengthens our links with schools, colleges, and universities, helping to ensure the next generation of engineers has access to high-quality, practical PLC training.
Nathan Ramsahai
Automation Tutor
Nathan joined Scantime with more than 13 years in automation design and development at Magna Exteriors. He brings deep hands-on experience to the classroom, with a real talent for breaking down complex subjects and making them accessible and engaging for engineers at every level.
Jay UR
Automation Tutor
Jay is one of our automation tutors, bringing energy and enthusiasm to every session. With experience at both Siemens and Rockwell, he's passionate about growing his skills in delivering practical PLC training. When he's not in the classroom, you'll probably find him in the gym.

Social Media Co-ordinator
Jess is the personality behind our social media presence, turning the day-to-day at Scantime into content that connects. She keeps our channels active, our brand consistent, and our audience engaged. When she's not creating content for us, you'll find her scrolling TikTok or Instagram.

Jamal Hussain
Electrical & Controls Engineer
Jamal plays a key role in designing and developing control systems for both our classrooms and our clients. Whether he's refurbishing a legacy system or troubleshooting a live issue, he brings a hands-on, problem-solving approach that keeps things running and our standards high.
